History |
The church was formed in Newtownards Orange Hall, then moved to the Good Templar’s Hall in North Street, then to Greenwell Street in 1924 and, forty years later, to its present location in Frances Street. The church halls were added in 1988. Click here for Earlier History The stalwarts of the formation years have set down a foundation which has proved to be a solid one. In the mid-century it was the vision of the officers, with the support of the membership, which took on the challenge of providing a new building, fronted with reconstructed rock faced Portland Stone, on our town-centre site. The cost was just in excess of £20,000
The recent end of the 20th century has, amongst many other things, led to a great amount of historical review. For our part we thank God that our church, was formed in 1923, and has been very firmly identified as an evangelical witness for over 80 years. We can benefit from a glance backwards at the earlier years of our church- life and praise God for those who started, maintained and for those who, today continue to lead the worship of the Lord in this place.
