“At Irish Youth Convention we’re passionate about two things… God’s Word and God’s people. We want the annual Irish Youth Convention to be a gathering where God’s Word will be proclaimed faithfully, clearly and creatively, so that God’s people (in particular young people) are encouraged to become faithful followers of Christ. At the heart of the Irish Youth Convention is reading, hearing and understanding what is in the Bible and applying it to life as a young person, in the 21st Century.” (Quote from www.irishyouthconvention.com)
Our young people alongside other youth groups from all over Ireland attended the first ever Irish Youth Convention in Belfast. The speaker, Jonty Allcock focused on a familiar passage from Luke 15, the story of the Prodigal Son. Bethany quoted from the first talk “We were not made to follow our own dreams. God doesn’t exist to fulfil what we want but what He wants for us.” As well as learning from God’s Word, there was singing, testimonies of how God changed the lives of young people, snacks, games, as well as a bookstall.
Brooke said “It was very encouraging to learn more from the three talks and I really enjoyed the singing. It was very good and it was good to spend time with everyone and learning how to lean on God when you are feeling down. I would encourage other people to go next year.”
