New Year – New Habit
As you all know the New Year has begun. The first coming together as a congregation for this year apart from weekly Sunday worship has been bringing our prayer requests before The Lord with a special 3 nights of prayer. It is encouraging as a congregation to see many people attending this special season of prayer. We have a faithful God who will answer the prayers of his people, we can be assured of this as we read 1 John 5 :14-15 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
With that said we don’t have to stop here and at the start of a New Year we would encourage you all to make it your challenge to continue to pray for all those that have already been prayed for at these meetings and the wider church family. Why not make it a habit to continue to pray for the work of Newtownards Baptist Church within the local community. Why should we do this? Well God’s word tells us to. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1Thess 5 : 16-18).
As a church let us pray for those people already within our congregation. Often we pray that God will increase our number, yet we need to ask the question, why God would do such a thing if we are not praying for and looking after those he has already put amongst us. Let us have a zeal for those in need in the church and the local community. Let us pray for the town of Newtownards that God would move among the people of Newtownards to save those who still do not know Jesus Christ as their Saviour. If you would like a copy of the list that was used for the 3 nights of prayer please speak to Ronnie McBride who can provide a hard copy.
Pray without ceasing!
