This year, our highly anticipated youth weekend took place at the Ganaway Activity Centre from 14th to 16th February. It was a memorable and encouraging time of connection and growth for the NBC youth group. The young people got to take part in a variety of activities, including team games, relay races, and outdoor laser tag (which has become something of an annual favourite among the youth and the leaders alike). We shared some delicious meals together, with Friday night’s pizza and Saturday’s Chinese takeaway standing out as the highlights.
The central focus of the weekend was hearing from God’s Word as Pastor Chris Banks from Millisle Baptist Church led us through the theme, ‘God’s Help When Life is Hard.’ Using the book of Psalms, we explored how God provides help when we feel guilty, face unfairness, or experience fear. Following each talk, small discussion groups allowed for deeper reflection and application of these truths. After packing up and doing some cleaning, the weekend concluded on the Sunday morning with everyone attending the 11am service at Newtownards Baptist Church, before heading home.
As leaders, we are deeply grateful to the parents of our youth, for their support in sending the young people along to NBC youth on Friday and Saturday evenings. We also want to express thanks to our church family for their incredible generosity and faithful prayers surrounding the weekend.
