Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th February 2023 was a special weekend in the life of Newtownards Baptist Church as we celebrated our 100th Anniversary.

On Saturday evening, we enjoyed a lovely dinner prepared and served by the ladies. To mark this occasion, Janet Donnan presented a lovely bouquet of flowers to Maud Hamilton – our longest serving member and daughter of founding member Joseph Bowden.

Over the weekend, there were three Special Anniversary Services. We were delighted to be joined by some of our former Pastors and relatives of past members and Elders.

Our Pastor, Richard Donnan, presented a history of the Church and took us back through the years. He highlighted significant moments, events, former Pastors, missionaries and many who have come through the church and went into full time ministry.

Mark Patterson, President of the Association of Baptist Churches in Ireland, brought greetings and prayed on behalf of the Association.

The invited speaker for the weekend was Craig Dyer, International Training Director with ‘Christianity Explored’.  Craig preached from Psalm 27, Psalm 19 and Psalm 56 and it was very encouraging as we reflected over God’s faithfulness and goodness and as we continue to look to Him for the future.

As we move forward into another century, God willing, we have every confidence that the same God will be our guide and our rock as His Word goes forth.
